ABOUT US

Broad Street Jazz is that most rare of things these days, a specialist jazz record shop. We stock a wide range of CDs, DVDs and LPs covering the whole history of jazz and also provide a nation-wide post-free mail-order service in the UK for those who can't visit the shop.

The shop is owned and run by Jon Turner, ably assisted by Tony Clarke, who works at the shop part-time. Jon played drums on the local jazz scene for many years, playing with the likes of Andy Sheppard and Jason Rebello and many other less illustrious but worthy names. His tastes range from New Orleans to New Thing and beyond .....

Tony Clarke has been a fixture on the local jazz scene for many years not as a musician but as the hippest jazz DJ around. Actually he's the only jazz DJ around, but let's not split hairs. Tony's collection of Blue Note records is a big one - enough said!

A BRIEF HISTORY

Broad Street Jazz began life as Music Matters in 1991 and was owned and run by Mike Sage until he retired in July 2006. Jon then bought the business from Mike, having been a regular punter there for many years.

The philosphy of the shop is summed up nicely by the motto Mike dreamt up - 'From Armstrong to Zorn'.

In other words we try to represent the whole rich history of jazz. Of course the shop is only so big, so we can't stock everything, but anything we don't have we'll gladly order for you.

WHERE ARE WE?

Situated a stone's throw from Bath city centre, Broad Street Jazz nestles up a small alley called Saxon Court, just off Broad Street.

If you can't visit, you can ring or email us with your order or query, and hopefully in the not too distant future, you will be able to buy from us online - watch this space!
